Brian Myers’ practice encompasses all areas of intellectual property law for a variety of clients, including Fortune 500 companies, startups, and government entities, both in the U.S. and internationally. Brian provides guidance and advice on intellectual property issues to individuals with a variety of professional backgrounds: general counsels, company presidents, R&D directors, marketing directors, engineers, scientists, and independent inventors having little or no prior IP experience. His approach is to understand a client’s business objectives, discuss expectations, and select the best strategy to satisfy those expectations. Brian has lectured extensively throughout Japan, Europe, and the Middle East, presenting on various aspects of patent procurement.
Brian has an extensive engineering background in addition to his law firm experience, enabling him to secure patent rights in many technical areas including wireless communications (e.g., TDMA, CDMA, 3GPP, LTE, switching, security, design, coding), mobile IP, MPLS, IP/VoIP, image processing (regular and 3D), cryptography, operating systems, telecommunications, and other areas related to computer, electrical, and systems engineering. Prior to entering the legal profession, Brian was an engineer with Bell Telephone Laboratories and Timeplex.
