(Patent Attorney; Chemistry; Oilfield Technology; Electronics) Karan, a former partner with a Washington, DC law firm and intellectual property counsel to a Fortune 500 technology company, has extensive experience in advising clients in all areas of intellectual property and his practice focuses on the development and management of patent portfolios including preparing and prosecuting patents, opposition and appeal proceedings, patentability and freedom-to-operate assessments, invalidity and non-infringement opinions, licensing of intellectual property rights, collaboration agreements, confidentiality agreements, advisory services for small businesses and start-ups relating to overseas suppliers and outsourcing arrangements, and litigation support in patent, trademark and copyright areas.

Attorney Singh was admitted in Japan as a Gaikokuho Jimu Bengoshi from 2005 to 2011, where he was the first foreign lawyer to be admitted to practice in the northern Tohoku region of Japan. From 1979 to 1988, attorney Singh was actively involved in the management of a company with offices in India and the U.S., and as an advisor for joint technology transfer, and licensing between India and the U.S.
